Agenda and Minutes

0. Actions

  • Create MICE note of channel mappings end-to-end through hardware, electronics and software - DA
  • Dig up the old documentation for the electronics channel mapping - DA
  • Ask KL, AB, DA about whether it would be helpful to fit LED into TOF to help our timing - EO
  • Hits to digits lookup - CH
  • Create comparison plots for channel mapping data - CH
  • Set up external waveguide meeting - AD
  • Visit AC Precision to make the new connectors for PP end of waveguides - GB
  • Move cryostat back to tracker lab - CM
  • Obtain survey data and place on tracker wiki - MU

1. Tracker lab - AB, GB, CM

  • Electronics operations shifted to Fermilab while DA is there
  • CM wants to use tracker lab to store tracker equipment currently spread around RAL
  • Move cryostat to go back to tracker lab. - CM

2. LED: EO

  • Finish main flasher unit - EO, CMacW
  • Make documentation mapping LEDs to areas of tracker illuminated - EO
  • Ask KL, AB, DA about whether it would be helpful to fit LED into TOF to help our timing - EO

3. Installation

  • Build tent in R9 - GB
    • AFC2 will be going back to Tesla on Wednesday, after which we can start building the tent.
    • Estimated time 1 week from today to get tent up and ready
    • Want maximum of three days with tracker exposed in R9 tent
  • Survey data
    • Need to obtain survey data from M. Leonova - MU
    • Store data sensibly (tracker wiki for now) - MA
    • Survey of phi needs to be done by John Pallin - GB
  • Finish installation manual - GB, AD Almost there, see attached v0.6...
  • Construct safety procedures for performing installing while AFC also operating - AN, AD Tracker Nominated Person transfers to MU
  • External waveguides
    • Spare external waveguides - KL, AB and CM have talked, old D0 spares will be dug out as deep spares (and stored at FNAL side), but existing waveguides and spares should be sufficient.
    • Visit AC Precision to make the new connectors for PP end of waveguides - GB
    • Need to QA the external waveguides somehow - MA

4. DAQ/Calibration/Controls: DA, EO

4.1 MiniDAQ

  • See presentation from DA
  • MiniDAQ (separate from DATE) now done and tested on set up in tracker lab - DA
  • Needs to be committed to the DAQ repository
  • Still needs a full integration test with main MICE DAQ

4.2 Channel Mappings

  • Check our channel mapping from end to end and make sure correct - DA, AD, ES, CH
  • Dig up the old documentation for the electronics channel mapping - DA

4.3 Controls

  • Create controls system - DA

5. Services in the MICE hall: CM

6. Mitigation of effect of magnetic field: CM, MG

  • Need to consider how we will route the waveguides through the yoke (non-trivial) - CM Now generally happy with the way these are routing through the yoke
  • Field leakage from the slot in the yoke for the waveguides looks to be small and acceptable

7. Step IV Readiness - MU

8. Software: AD, ES, CH, ST

  • Milestones - AD See Software Schedule.
  • MC Noise - CH
    • Look at large cpu load
    • Discuss with DA
    • Code review
  • Hits to digits lookup - CH
    • Organise meeting with C. Hunt and start using it for spacepoint efficiency study
    • Code review

9. Conferences: DA, AB, KL

  • CHEP (AD) - Paper submitted

10. AoB and summary of actions.

  • MU has taken over as head of hardware, AD head of software, DA head of DAQ
  • Next phone meeting 16:00 GMT, 13th Jan 14
