Date: 9th December 2013
Time: 16:00 GMT
Attendance: D. Adey, A. Bross, A. Dobbs, R. Gamet, M. A. George, C. Heidt, P. Kyberd, E. Overton

Agenda and Minutes

0. Actions

  • Create MICE note of channel mappings end-to-end through hardware, electronics and software - DA
  • Dig up the old documentation for the electronics channel mapping - DA
  • Ask KL, AB, DA about whether it would be helpful to fit LED into TOF to help our timing - EO
  • Hits to digits lookup - CH
  • Create comparison plots for channel mapping data - CH
  • Set up external waveguide meeting - AD

1. Tracker lab - AB, GB, CMacW

  • Electronics operations shifted to Fermilab while DA is there
  • CMacW wants to use lab to store tracker equipment currently spread around RAL

2. LED: EO

  • Make PCB for main flasher unit buffer - EO _Built by CMacW
  • Finish main flasher unit - EO, CMacW
  • Ask KL, AB, DA about whether it would be helpful to fit LED into TOF to help our timing. EO

3. Installation

  • Finish installation manual - GB
  • Construct safety procedures for performing installing while AFC also operating - AN, AD
  • Perform metrology on solenoid bore to check clearances, GB talk to John Palin - GB
  • Construct dark room tent in R9 - GB, KLs
  • AFC2 has flaws, needs to go back to Tesla, so need to leave darkroom tent down until AFC2 is moved out of R9, probably early next week

4. DAQ/Calibration/Controls: DA, EO

4.1 MiniDAQ

  • MiniDAQ (separate from DATE) now done and tested on set up in tracker lab - DA
  • Needs to be committed to the DAQ repository
  • Still needs a full integration test with main MICE DAQ

4.2 Channel Mappings

  • Check our channel mapping from end to end and make sure correct - DA, AD, ES, CH Looking like mapping is in fact good from TOF - single station comparison, but still needs thought
  • Dig up the old documentation for the electronics channel mapping - DA

4.3 Controls

  • Create controls system - DA Responsibility moving solely to DA at present

5. Services in the MICE hall: CMacW

6. Mitigation of effect of magnetic field: CMacW, MG

  • Need to consider how we will route the waveguides through the yoke (non-trivial) - CMacW Having managed loosen tension in waveguide tubes, now looks like they will route fine through the PRY. Main job is now to define precisely what hole we want in the PRY
  • Manufacture of new spare waveguides - GB, AB, AD Set up meeting between KL, AB, AD, GB to discuss

7. Step IV Readiness - MU

7. Software: AD, ES, CH, ST

  • Milestones - AD See Software Schedule.
  • MC Noise - CH
    • Look at large cpu load
    • Discuss with DA
    • Code review
  • Hits to digits lookup - CH
    • Get MAUS Long processor working (raise MICE mine issue) Solved, Long processor now working
    • Organise meeting with C. Hunt and start using it for spacepoint efficiency study
    • Code review

8. Conferences: DA, AB, KL

  • CHEP (AD) - Paper submitted

9. AoB and summary of actions.

  • Next phone meeting 16:00 GMT, 16th Dec 13
