Meeting 2013-12-02¶
Date: 2nd December 2013
Time: 16:00 GMT
Attendance: D. Adey, G. Barber, A. Dobbs, R. Gamet, P. Kyberd, M. A. Uchida
Agenda and Minutes¶
0. Actions¶
- Create MICE note of channel mappings end-to-end through hardware, electronics and software. DA, ES, AD, GB DA to lead creation of document
- Dig up the old documentation for the electronics channel mapping - DA Stands
- Ask KL, AB, DA about whether it would be helpful to fit LED into TOF to help our timing. EO Pursuing issue with Maurizio
- Hits to digits lookup. CH
1. Tracker lab - AB, GB, CMacW¶
- Electronics operations shifted to Fermilab while DA is there Equipment is at FNAL, space available - VME crate found just waiting on power supplies for AFE and PCs
- CMacW wants to use lab to store tracker equipment currently spread around RAL
2. LED: EO¶
- Make PCB for main flasher unit buffer - EO Board design has gone to manufacturer for production
- Finish main flasher unit - EO, CMacW CMacW to test at RAL
- Ask KL, AB, DA about whether it would be helpful to fit LED into TOF to help our timing. EO See action
3. Installation¶
- Finish installation manual - GB Stands
- Construct safety procedures for performing installing while AFC also operating - AN, AD Stands
- Perform metrology on solenoid bore to check clearances, GB talk to John Palin - GB Laser tracker used, Eamon made mock disc to clean inside welds. GB wants to make "coat" for tracker to avoid any contact with inside of bore
- Construct dark room tent in R9 - GB, KLs
4. DAQ/Calibration/Controls: DA, EO¶
4.1 MiniDAQ¶
- MiniDAQ (separate from DATE) now done and tested on set up in tracker lab - DA
- Needs to be committed to the DAQ repository
- Still needs a full integration test with main MICE DAQ
4.2 Channel Mappings¶
- Check our channel mapping from end to end and make sure correct - DA, AD, ES, CH
- CH investigations so far: Speculation_Against_Channel_Flip.pdf
- Dig up the old documentation for the electronics channel mapping - DA See http://micewww.pp.rl.ac.uk/documents/75 by M. Ellis, derived from D0 note not yet found
- M. Ellis (via P. Kyberd) says it was definitely correct in 2009 in G4MICE - so, was it correctly translated into MAUS? - ES
4.3 Controls¶
- Create controls system - DA Main focus of work on AFE test stand at FNAL
5. Services in the MICE hall: CMacW¶
6. Mitigation of effect of magnetic field: CMacW, MG¶
- Need to consider how we will route the waveguides through the yoke (non-trivial) - CMacW There are more options about placing location of slot in PRY. Seperat conduits around fibres mean more rotations could be possible. All neccessary parts at in MICE hall for testing
7. Step IV Readiness - MU¶
- Previous week's slides Continuing to chase down issues. Some resolved eg. ADC saturation but others less so, eg. Station position and rotation misalignments
7. Software: AD, ES, CH, ST¶
- Milestones - AD See Software Schedule.
- MC Noise - CH
- Look at large cpu load
- Discuss with DA
- Code review
- Hits to digits lookup - CH
- Get MAUS Long processor working (raise MICE mine issue)
- Email C. Hunt and start using it for spacepoint efficiency study
- Code review
8. Conferences: DA, AB, KL¶
- CHEP (AD) - Paper submitted
9. AoB and summary of actions.¶
- Next phone meeting 16:00 GMT, 2nd Dec 13
