h1. Controlled Entry and PPS Safety Training
2 1 Boyd, Steven
3
Occasionally MICE collaborators will need to enter the MICE Hall when it has been searched and secured.
4
Since search and secure can take up to an hour a procedure has been put in place to allow controlled access.
5
6
h2. Pre-requisites
7
8
MICE collaborators can only be allowed to carry out a controlled access if
9
10 2 Boyd, Steven
** they have already received CDM training
11
** they have been trained in procedures for working in the MICE Hall magnetic field environment
12 1 Boyd, Steven
** they have been trained in the controlled access procedure
13
14
h2. Controlled Access Training
15
16
Controlled access procedure is governed by
17
18 5 Boyd, Steven
** the Controlled Access checklist (if no SC Magnet permit is active)
19
** the Controlled Access with SC Magnet Permit Active checklist if the permit is active.
20 1 Boyd, Steven
21 7 Boyd, Steven
Shifters should be aware of and read both of the checklists and should follow each step during the access.
22 1 Boyd, Steven
23 6 Boyd, Steven
*three* people are required to carry out a controlled access:
24 4 Boyd, Steven
*two* workers who will make the access. Both must have been trained in the Controlled Access procedure.
25 3 Boyd, Steven
*one* Door Operator to manage the access and keep a log of entries and exits.
26
27
28 1 Boyd, Steven
Controlled access training involves:
29
30 7 Boyd, Steven
** being made aware of, and going over, the Shifter Controlled Entry (with and without SC permit) checklists
31 1 Boyd, Steven
** being made aware of the requirements for a controlled access to be approved (e.g. noone with pacemakers should do a controlled access
32
if the SC Magnet Permit is active)
33 8 Boyd, Steven
** PPS system principles - Hazards managed by the PPS and those outside of the system (like Stray magnetic fields, ODH, neutron monitor, LH2 beacon & PPE), show crates, door sensors etc and mimic operation
34
** PPS safety aspects - Beam off Buttons, Crash outs, Status indicators by doors, Operation under Blue lights and requirement to take CE logbook under evacuation
35
** Run through the "Shifter Controlled Entry checklist"
36
** Go through procedure from "Hall Ready" status to "Controlled Entry" status (PK00 run key)
37
** Perform Controlled Entry
38
** Act as Door Operator Demonstrate SC permit beacon by dropping Hall search and then explaining requirement to reinstate the Hall Search
39
** Cancelling the PPS search down to "Free Access" using the "Start search" key in the main SCP.
