Conventional Magnets - things to mention in eLog

The power supply Status panel will tell you why it has tripped off. If unsure, assume a "Power Supply (or other) Issue". What you should check and note down in a dedicated eLog entry:

Conventional Magnet - Thermal Issue

  1. Time
  2. Set Current
  3. Inlet cooling water temperature
  4. Loading-Bay chiller output temperature
  5. Temperature difference across magnet
  6. Temperature differences across other magnets - any abnormal?
  7. Water flow through power supply
  8. Was it the Magnet, or the Power Supply ("MPS") that overheated?

Conventional Magnet - Earth Leakage Failure

  1. Time
  2. Set Current
  3. Inlet cooling water temperature
  4. Conductivity of water
  5. Water leak in trench (Hall Environment Summary)?
  6. Weather - outside air temperature
  7. MICE Hall activity - e.g. are other magnets ramping?
  8. ISIS activity - e.g. recovering from trip
  9. Neutron Monitor reading
