  • DONM : 12/4/2016

Minutes

Present: Steve, Scott, Andy, Henry, Colin, Jon, Paul, Pierrick

  • Actions from last meeting
    • Generate appropriate table to store absorber pressure and material information : stands
    • Josef will take the failed compressor apart to see what caused it to fail : Suspicion is a flaw in manufacturing
not water per se. A pipe was crushed, and the resulting turbulent water flow caused erosion in the copper which eventually
split. Can we check the others? (Colin) We will try it on a compressor-by-compressor basis.
  • DC report - activities in the Hall this week
    • Nothing to report from last week.
    • Henry spotted some water on the base of Q5 in the DSA. John realised that something was leaking, went in and fixed it.
      • Pierrick - we need to install water sensors.
      • Colin - let's see how we can fit installation of water sensors in? The idea was originally
vetoed on the basis of complexity. If we can come up with something that is reasonably easy we can try it.
    • Supposed to do BPS test for the target but ran out of time. Will need the Hall later this week to do it.
    • (Mark) Decay solenoid is still being unstable when the cooling flow starts on the current leads. He changed back to
tweaked parameters and the oscillations are settling down. Pierrick: should the parameters be dynamic? Mark doesn't think so.
  • Work plan for the next week : http://micewww.pp.rl.ac.uk/attachments/5892/Mice_Hall_Plan-16-03-16.xlsx
  • Running in April vs Water work : Water work
    • Extended discussion summarised by : bellows won't be ready until at the very earliest, April 15th (& that's with no
contingency). Water could be ready for April 15th run if we start now. We decided, based on the fact that
      (i) we have zero absorber data we haven't looked at yet (ii) the bellows might not be ready so couldn't form a vacuum
(iii) water work is critical (iv) an extra factor of two in stats is probably not critical, not to run in April.
  • April 14th tour : Just a reminder about a tour during the afternoon of April 14th.
  • April 19th : Outreach visit by school students to paint the wall. Paul praised it as "a symphony of art and science".
  • AOB : None.
