Progress against milestones¶

• Automated data-movement
  • File Compaction now integrated with Run Control
  • "Run DFC" button triggers file compaction and initiates data-movement chain after run ends
  • Needs more error-trapping & feedback
    • e.g. if shifter does not click button, or if the compaction files, or copy to interim storage fails.
  • Automatic reconstruction
    • Issue with Tier1 queue at RAL -- again. We believe it's the same issue that cropped up before MDR1 and later got resolved.
      • Raising it with RAL GRID group
    • However, quick response from JM to shunt the jobs to the Tier2 queue at Imperial to keep the reconstruction going.

• Final Track fit: Stands
• Integrated DAQ:
  • YK/EO have looked at D. Adey's code and have a plan to revamp & document it
  • The tracker readout with the main DAQ was already demonstrated during MDR1 but would like to validate it with real hits.

• Integrated Trigger: Stands
  • New trigger will be validated during weekend running
    • Dependencies: requires new TOF calibration, requires data with old & new triggers
      • Resolutions from preliminary TOF calibration look fine. Calibration with full data in progress.

Online¶

• YK investigating DAQ instability, trying to isolate the board that causes the hang.
• EO+YK have a plan to revamp David Adey's code. Not a high priority at the moment. DA's tracker DAQ code was used successfully during MDR1

Offline¶

• New MAUS version released for weekend running
  • Includes StepIV unpacker
  • Reconstruction with StepIV unpacking works fine [ based on TOF reconstruction ]
• Some issues with viewing plots during data-taking. Due to missing software and broken authentication after OS upgrade. Resolved.
• Tracker DAQ unpacking / digitisation remains broken, though sensible VLSB data is now seen. This is a high priority now.

Infrastructure¶

• miceonrec02 has been upgraded to SL6 & used
• need a working MAUS test server node with SL6
  • heplnv157 is down: to be resolved heplnv157 was brought back up.
• Want to upgrade heplnm071 to SL6 (PPD to be requested). Need this to have an online-mimic on the test server.
