Software On Call¶

Software on-call person should be able to respond to problems with the MAUS software running in the control room. So on-call should:

• Have access to control room machines at least via ssh. This requires:
  • An account on mousehole
  • Knowledge of the onrec machines' IP addresses
  • Knowledge on the correct logins and passwords
• Be reachable by phone
• Have a working knowledge of the online operation of MAUS
  • Installation of the online reconstruction
  • Launching online reconstruction and online monitoring
  • At least a cursory knowledge of detector reconstruction and online plotting routines
  • Knowledge of the celery/distributed processing framework, including how to query, stop and restart RabbitMQ and mongod
  • Debugging online reconstruction failures using process PIDs and application logs
  • Know where to find the documentation

SOC Maintainer Tasks¶

• The SOC maintainer is usually the head of MAUS
• Maintain an up to date, password protected, list of Software-On-Call experts + contact details (like the MICE expert list)
• Request/chase volunteers for SOC during each user run
• Keep an eye on skills/training requirements for SOC
