Software On Call¶
Software on-call person should be able to respond to problems with the MAUS software running in the control room. So on-call should:
- Have access to control room machines at least via ssh. This requires:
- An account on mousehole
- Knowledge of the onrec machines' IP addresses
- Knowledge on the correct logins and passwords
- Be reachable by phone
- Have a working knowledge of the online operation of MAUS
- Installation of the online reconstruction
- Launching online reconstruction and online monitoring
- At least a cursory knowledge of detector reconstruction and online plotting routines
- Knowledge of the celery/distributed processing framework, including how to query, stop and restart RabbitMQ and mongod
- Debugging online reconstruction failures using process PIDs and application logs
- Know where to find the documentation

SOC Maintainer Tasks¶
- The SOC maintainer is usually the head of MAUS
- Maintain an up to date, password protected, list of Software-On-Call experts + contact details (like the MICE expert list)
- Request/chase volunteers for SOC during each user run
- Keep an eye on skills/training requirements for SOC
