Using the Virtual Machine release

Compiling on your own

Setting up Bazaar

Ubuntu

All you need to do is type:

sudo apt-get install bzr

Scientific Linux 5.5

To install bazaar, you need to do two steps: install elementTree dependencies then compile/install bazaar.

You are almost certainly using version 2.4 of python (you can check with python -V), so you'll need to install ElementTree and cElementTree. Grab the .tar.gz files of both. You should install ElementTree then cElementTree. The commands you run should look like:

wget http://effbot.org/media/downloads/elementtree-1.2.6-20050316.tar.gz
tar xvfz elementtree-1.2.6-20050316.tar.gz
cd elementtree-1.2.6-20050316
sudo python setup.py install
cd ..
wget http://effbot.org/media/downloads/cElementTree-1.0.5-20051216.tar.gz
tar xvfz cElementTree-1.0.5-20051216.tar.gz
cd cElementTree-1.0.5-20051216
sudo python setup.py install
cd ..

Then to build/install bazaar, you must download the code for bazaar from the source repository here. You then must compile bazaar:

wget http://launchpad.net/bzr/2.3/2.3b1/+download/bzr-2.3b1.tar.gz
tar xvfz bzr-2.3b1.tar.gz
cd bzr-2.3b1
sudo python setup.py install
