GEOM 130513¶
Monday 13 May at 15.00 BST
- Geometry (Ryan Bayes)
- Geometry Verification (Stefania Ricciardi)
- Absorbers (Pavel Snopok)
- CAD Models (Jason Tarrant)
- Detector Groups: Tracker (Chris Heidt)
- Magnets (Victoria Blackmore)
- AOB
Proposed date of next meeting Tuesday 28th May time 11 am -
Actions from Previous Meeting¶
- Jason - produce new files with different CAD settings/resolution in FASTRad and break the module by material to solve the issue that no material information is present in the CAD output files
- DONE
- Ryan - convert new gdml files into MAUS Modules / verify time to upload geometry and give feedback to Jason
- NEW
- ACTION: Ryan to upload Jason's CAD model to DB to have a first version of STEP IV geometry in a MAUS release.
Diffuser and cooling channel in two separate CAD files to be merged.- STANDS
- ACTION: Stefania to check how much time/particle/s with CAD geometry on RAL Tier2 (Matt reports 2.8 s/particle on his laptop)
- STANDS Stefania checked that legacy files give 2.7s/muon with STEP IV on TIER2 PPD machines
- ACTION translate TOF (from legacy files updated by Durga), ABSORBER (Pavel), DIFFUSER (CAD files from Jason) geometry to gdml and store to DB (Ryan)
- Ryan working on TOF, to be tested
- ACTION: FIX tracker GDML files - problem in translation (Ryan)
- STANDS
- ACTION: Improving TRACKER Geometry description - fibres outside fiducial region (Heidt)
- STANDS
- ACTION: GEANT4 warning messages when geometry from CAD import is used (Ryan)
- STANDS
- ACTION: Produce geometry documentation for code developers and pass information to Ryan (Matt)
- IN PROGRESS
- ACTION: Victoria Blackmore to implement magnet field map interface (Victoria)
- STANDS
Present:¶
Jason, Ryan, Celeste, Ian, Stefania, Chris R.
Notes for this meeting¶
Material problem - Jason produced different simplified submodels for each different material - Tested by Ryan with Toy MC ( GDML ->G4 solids). They look fine.
Oversimplifcation in the beam acceptance region.
Will need to reproduce including omitted details, such as the He windows for the tracker volume, the flanges of the H2 windows. A simplified model of these flanges is proposed, without screw holes and screws. H2 windows themselves are part of the aborber module and should have been simulated by Pavel.
Time to upload geometry still very/long. Inside/outside volume error persistent. Ryam debugging.
Functionality of MAUS Modules detailed in the documentation on the web (Chris R.).
Actions¶
- Jason - to refine CAD models in beam acceptance region (He windows, flanges, etc..)
