Actions from Previous Meeting

  • Jason - to refine CAD models in beam acceptance region (He windows, flanges, etc..)
    • STANDS
  • Ryan - solve problen in traslation GDML->MAUS Modules
    • DONE but still problem with uploading time
  • ACTION: Ryan to upload Jason's CAD model to DB to have a first version of STEP IV geometry in a MAUS release.
Diffuser and cooling channel in two separate CAD files to be merged.
    • STANDS
  • ACTION: Stefania to check how much time/particle/s with CAD geometry on RAL Tier2 (Matt reports 2.8 s/particle on his laptop)
    • STANDS Stefania checked that legacy files give 2.7s/muon with STEP IV on TIER2 PPD machines
  • ACTION translate TOF (from legacy files updated by Durga), DIFFUSER (CAD files from Jason) geometry to gdml and store to DB (Ryan)
    • Ryan working on TOF, to be tested
  • ACTION: Integrate Absorber (MAUS Modules) by Pavel in new geometry and store to DB (Ryan)

    • IN PROGRESS
  • ACTION: Victoria Blackmore to implement magnet field map interface (Victoria)
    • STANDS

Present:

Ryan, Chris R., Celeste, Ian, Ed Santos, John, S.R.

Notes for this meeting

In Ryan's developper version STEP IV is now implemented, except for diffuser, absorber and tracker. Data structure is being read and translated properly.
Problems with tracker geometry: 1. extra-bit and pieces present in the CAD
design to be removed (such as cryostat); 2. functionality used by the code (XSLT2?) not supported anymore. Manpower issue here. Chris H. won't come back to the UK very soon.

Time to upload geometry still very long, even with 4.9.5. Slow execution of some GEANT function. Ryan think it is a GEANT problem and not due to the complexity of the geometry.
He is trying to implement Geant 4.9.6 for MAUS to see weather that solves the problem. Profiling code could help.

Actions

All previous action stands. In addition Ryan will investigate with A. Wilson how to upload geometry to CDB.
