M1/SSU Optics
  • Note that there is a concern with powering the M2 asymmetrically; may be an issue with the bobbin moving and making a heat leak
  • Conclusion: need to keep symmetric solution on the cards and do a force calculation
Demonstration of Ionisation Cooling optics w/o Match Coil 1 in downstream Spectrometer Solenoid (Dave Neuffer)
  • Switch off M1, looks like betatron function oscillates between 1.6 m and 0.1 m
  • Desire betatron function in the tracker to be as flat as possible; try rematching downstream focus coil and downstream m2; how flat can you get beta in the d/s spectrometer?
