Comment:

  • From approx two days of running at each setting (not including any downtime/etc), systematics errors are by far the dominant source of error.
  • Why are the stats listed in MICE Note 497 different to those arising from my "cdb lookup" script?
    • script is attached
  • One could imagine taking less data; if stats errors go as sqrt(n) then 10 hours of data at each momentum would give stats error approx equal to or better than systematic error
  • Say 4 momentum settings each of which gets 12 hours data + 30 % contingency => 60 hours of data (say 3 days of 24/7)
  • Ryan notes LiH data set was a muon beam; so we should do much better
