Description

I want to run a reasonable number of spills. If I run the simulation as it is, I get the same output over and over again. What I used to do was to set the random seed equal to the system time, which guarantees I have a different seed for each spill. This is a hack I want to give up on... what's the recommended procedure?

  • Category set to Simulation
  • Assignee set to Rogers, Chris

This falls under Chris's purview I think because it's simulation.

There is a 'random number' field for each MC particle in the JSON input. You could set it there until the BeamMaker code is finished and in MAUS (which happens in a month or so).

For now you have to assign the random seed yourself. How you do this - up to you...
