Rogers in reference to current VirtualPlanes in MAUS:
I think this is not good enough. It took a while for me to get the Virtual Planes algorithm working. Why delete working code and replace with broken code? We should do it properly!

Agreed: I just did the quickest thing to get it working. It would be nice to have both though since at least I'd like to know the geant4 truth too (I don't think what's there is currently broken; it just addresses a different question). It took me a while to get tracks/steps in to be able to write that neatly. :) Will the logic for your VirtualPlanes (we can rename mine, or make it a VP algorithm) be a mapper? ie. do you mind saving tracks, which I can drastically speed up when I take out some of the JSON logic out of the stepping action. I think at present you take a factor of 5 hit if you want to save tracks, but before writing that off it may be nice to think of what else we want from the tracks: true energy deposited in cooling channel, true amount of MS, etc?

Can you add an example of how to use virtual planes to bin/simulate_mice.py or a new file?

Need examples for the whole simulation stuff really... so how to set an rf cavity phase, etc...
